Emmanuel Akporiaye Ph.D.

Chairman, CEO

Dr. Emmanuel Akporiaye Ph.D., CEO is Chairman of Veana Therapeutics. He is the founder of the company and co-inventor of α-TEA, the immunotherapy technology behind the VIMO products.


Sandra Shotwell Ph.D.

Board Member

Sandra Shotwell, Ph.D., is a biotech entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in research, technology transfer, and company formation and management. She was co-founder and CEO of DesignMedix Inc. and co-founder and board chair for Elex Biotech Inc., companies that develop small molecule therapeutics for infectious disease and heart disease, respectively.  A Certified Licensing Professional, she has done biotech and pharmaceutical licensing deals as a Licensing Associate for Stanford University, as founder and Chief of the Technology Licensing Branch for the National Institutes of Health/FDA/CDC, and as Director of Technology Transfer for Oregon Health & Science University. Sandra has a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, a Ph.D. in Biology from Caltech, and did post-doctoral research at Stanford University School of Medicine.


Bruce Ramseyer MBA

Board Member

Bruce Ramseyer, MBA, QFOP, has over 40 years in banking, finance and wealth advisement. He is the founder of Quo Vadis Family Office, an independent and entrepreneurial multi-family office provider that delivers bespoke services to ultra high net worth clients. Mr. Ramseyer started his career in finance with an undergraduate scholarship from U.S. National Bank of Oregon and obtained a B.S. Finance degree from the University of Oregon. He later completed his MBA from Portland State and a graduate degree from Pacific Coast Banking School at University of Washington. He was the Oregon Regional Executive for both Key Private Bank and Washington Trust Private Banking, having established the latter department for Oregon.


Andy Ray Ph.D.

Board Member

Andrew Ray, Ph.D., is currently a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences at Colorado State University. His Ph.D. work and beyond has focused on carcinogenesis using cellular and molecular techniques. He is an author on 40 publications and his inventiveness is attested by his 7 awarded, U.S. and European patents. In 2007, he cofounded a company, KromaTiD, which, by using IP developed by the founders including Dr. Ray, developed Directional Genomic Hybridization (dGH™) a platform technology that is the only genomics approach capable of detecting DNA sequence, location and orientation in a single test.


Rebecca Akporiaye MBA

Board Member

Rebecca Akporiaye, MBA, has over 15 years of experience in start-up development, program management and previously was a grant writer and reviewer for the US Dept. of Education. She founded REM Consulting, Inc. which focused on assisting start-up businesses, raising more than $5M for schools in Arizona. Also in Arizona, Ms. Akporiaye co-developed and served as Assistant Director for Arizona State University Leadership for Educational Entrepreneurs Masters Program. She has previously served as Executive Board President for NewSpace Center for Photography in Portland, Oregon and is currently Vice President of the Portland Museum Photography Council.
